Vitamina D (D3) este o vitamina liposolubila (se dizolva in grasimi) ce se formeaza in piele atunci cand ne expunem corpul la soare (ultraviolete de tip B, UVB).

Doza zilnica recomandata de vitamina D este astazi de 600 UI (unitati internationale). Aceasta este insa controversata si foarte multi experti recomanda doze mult mai crescute. Daca ne gandim ca prin expunerea la soare puternic in doar 15 minute corpul nostru produce circa 10.000 UI, este greu de inteles de ce recomandarile institutiilor sunt atat de scazute.

Unde se gaseste vitamina D?

– se formeaza in mod natural in corp prin expunerea la soare.
– in alimente. Exista unele alimente care contin vitamina D insa este nerealist sa credem ca putem acoperi necesarul zilnic prin consumul lor, deoarece ar insemna sa consumam cantitati enorme. Acestea sunt pestele gras (somonul, macroul, sardinele etc.), galbenusul de ou, unt, lapte imbogatit cu vitamina D, ficat etc. Spre exemplu, pentru a avea un aport de 2000 UI pe zi ar trebui sa consumam zilnic 35 de oua, sa bem 15 litri de lapte, sau sa mancam cel puin 350 grame de peste gras. Sau putem sta la soare 15-30 de minute pe zi.

Persoanele adulte care doresc sa ia suplimente este recomandat sa ia capsule intre 2000 UI si 5000 UI zilnic.

De ce este importanta vitamina D?

Tot mai multe studii arata ca o carenta de vitamina D poate fi legata de o serie de boli precum: depresii, autism, cancer, boli inflamatorii, osteoporoza, boli de inima etc, cel putin la nivel statistic.

Printre beneficiile consumului de vitamina se numara:
– intarirea scheletul. Este cunoscut faptul ca ea ajuta la o mai buna absorbtie a calciului din alimente, la copii ajutănd la dezvoltarea armonioasă a sistemului osos şi la prevenirea rahitismului. Din acest motiv copiii mici primesc suplimente de vitamina D sub forma de picaturi sau injectii.
– este efectiva impotriva depresiei/asteniei.
– intarirea/imbunatatirea sistemul imunitar
– poate favoriza pierderea in greutate. Persoanele normoponderale au niveluri de vitamina D mai screscute decat cele obeze.
– poate reduce riscurile de cancer si prelungi viata. Cercetarile au demonstrat ca niveluri scazute de vitamina D contribuie la aparitia declinului cognitiv specific procesului de imbatranire. Cu alte cuvinte, persoanele ce au un aport optim de vitamina D pur si simplu traiesc mai mult.
